Microsoft launches recall feature for Copilot+ PC

On November 22, Microsoft launched its new Recall feature for Copilot+ PC as part of the Windows Insider program. This feature allows users to save screenshots of their activities on the PC, making it easier to find information later.

How Recall Works and Its Purpose?

Recall saves snapshots of user activities, including app usage, website visits, and viewing images and documents. With AI integration, users can easily find any item by simply describing its contents.

To enable Recall, users must activate Windows Hello, Bitlocker, and Secure Boot, as well as turn on screenshot saving. After setup, the feature can be found in the "Start" menu under "All Programs."

Microsoft emphasizes the feature's security. Users can pause, delete, or block screenshots from specific apps at any time. Access to Recall requires authentication via Windows Hello (fingerprint, face recognition, or PIN). The feature automatically ignores screenshots containing sensitive information like passwords or credit card numbers. Microsoft assures that it does not access, share, or use users’ screenshots for machine learning.

Currently, the feature is available only for Copilot+ PCs with Snapdragon processors, but Microsoft plans to add support for Intel and AMD devices soon.

To use the feature, users must join the Windows Insider program and install the latest Windows 11 build (26120.2415) through the developer channel.
